Vietnamese furniture quality inspectors in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi randomly inspected 181 batches of wooden furniture products and 21 batches of unqualified products.
Recently, the quality inspectors of Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi furniture in Vietnam submitted the quality supervision and random inspection results of wooden furniture products in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi for September and October 2023 to our foreign import customers. A total of 181 batches of wooden furniture products were randomly inspected, and 21 batches of unqualified products were found, with a random inspection failure rate of 11.6%.
This supervision and random inspection conducted a total of 50 items in 6 categories, including woodworking requirements, surface physical and chemical properties (paint film), surface physical and chemical properties (soft and hard covering), mechanical properties, formaldehyde release, and heavy metal content (limited color paint), in accordance with GB/T 3324-2017 “General Technical Conditions for Wooden Furniture” and GB 18584-2001 “Limit of Harmful Substances in Wooden Furniture”.
The unqualified items involved in this random inspection include woodworking requirements, surface physical and chemical properties (paint film) adhesion, strength of push pull components, formaldehyde release, and heavy metal content (limited color paint).
Vietnamese furniture quality inspectors in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi pointed out that excessive formaldehyde emissions can easily lead to excessive environmental formaldehyde concentrations, which can cause harm to the eyes, nose, and respiratory system. At the same time, formaldehyde is also one of the substances that can cause human cancer, as announced by the International Health Organization. Unqualified woodworking requirements can lead to the use of artificial boards that are prone to moisture absorption, warping, and deformation, resulting in dimensional changes. As the non-contact surface is not sealed, it can also lead to an increase in formaldehyde release. The unqualified strength of the push-pull component affects its service life, and the drawer is prone to falling off. The surface physical and chemical performance (paint film) adhesion is not qualified, and furniture is prone to cracks during use, losing its protective and decorative function. Unqualified heavy metal content (limited color paint) can cause harm to the digestive system, nervous system, respiratory system, endocrine system, and blood system.
The non-conforming products found in this random inspection will be handed over to the importer customer for processing in accordance with the purchase order agreement.
