US imports of hardwood plywood from Russia have decreased by 82%

According to data from the American Decorative Hardwood Association, the cost of importing hardwood plywood from the United States decreased by 69.6% in January 2023. Compared to the same period last year, the delivery volume decreased by 67.7%.

As for the results in 2022, the import of hardwood plywood from the United States increased by an overall 12%, exceeding $2.1 billion. However, the import volume from Russia and Southeast Asia has significantly decreased. Indonesia’s exports of hardwood plywood to the United States decreased by 59.9%, Vietnam by 86.3%, and Russia by 82%. According to previous reports by the association, the total amount of plywood products in Russia decreased by 34% in the second half of 2022.

In addition to hardwood plywood, the value of solid wood composite flooring imported from the United States increased by over 11% throughout 2022, reaching $1.3 billion, with a total increase of 7% to 70.7 million square meters.
