Testing standards for wooden flooring
Firstly, check whether the surface is intact and whether there are any damages, scars, gaps, and other issues; Secondly, it is also necessary to check whether the paint film is full, whether there is a graininess, and whether it is glossy. In addition, the water absorption rate of the floor should also be checked. Place it in water for a period of time to see if it will quickly expand. If it is easy to absorb water, it indicates that the density of the floor is high.
We also need to see if the size of the floor is standard. We can use a tape measure to measure its thickness and see if it is standardized. Then assemble several pieces of flooring to see if the edges and corners are neat, and also check the gaps in the flooring. If it is too large, it can easily cause deformation of the flooring. If it is too small, it is difficult to carry out later installation work.
You can also boil a pot of boiling water, pour it into the basin, soak the floor sample in it, and wait for two hours. Then pour it into the pot, continue to boil, and use chopsticks to pick up the sample to see if the floor emits a pungent odor. If the odor is too strong, it means that the floor is not environmentally friendly and contains a lot of formaldehyde.
In addition, a small knife can be used to cut open the decorative surface of the floor template and cut a part of the internal substrate to see its color. If the color presents as logs, it indicates that the floor quality is relatively good. If the color turns white, it may have gone through a rinsing process, while if it turns black, it means that there are too many impurities in the floor substrate, and this type of floor often has poor quality. At the same time, when purchasing flooring, we also need to consider its comprehensive performance. If the characteristics between flooring are similar, we can look at its formaldehyde content. For example, the more water resistant the laminate flooring is, the more formaldehyde it contains.
Finally, to test the wear resistance of the floor, it is advisable to use a harder object to scratch the surface a few times to see if there are any traces left. And stain resistance refers to using an ink pen to apply the surface and see if it can be easily wiped clean with a cloth.
