Orientated particle board (OSB), – the all-around king with both appearance and strength!
Orientated particle board (OSB), as its name implies, is a kind of man-made board that uses fast-growing wood, small-diameter wood, thinning wood, etc. as raw materials, uses special equipment to process them along the direction of wood texture into thin and long strips of shavings. After treatment, the shavings are laid crosswise in a certain direction, and then formed by hot pressing.

All are particle board. What’s the difference between OSB and ordinary particle board? The difference between OSB and ordinary particle board is mainly reflected in three aspects:
1.1 Differences in particle morphology
The most basic difference between OSB and ordinary particle board is that the particle shape of the board is different. The production of OSB shavings requires a large aspect ratio, which is a thin and elongated large shavings with a length direction consistent with the direction of wood fibers. The OSB shavings are generally larger in length and width than the ordinary particle board shavings, and slightly thicker than the ordinary particle board shavings.
1.2 Differences in production process
OSB should try to choose transportation methods that have minimal damage to the shape of particles during the transportation process, such as belt conveyors and scraper conveyors, and avoid using transportation methods such as pneumatic conveyors and spiral conveyors that may cause significant damage to the shape of particles. The paving method of OSB is also very different from that of ordinary particle board. The oriented particle board needs to lay the larger particleboard to the surface layer and the smaller particleboard to the core layer, while ordinary particle board is just the opposite.

Due to the use of special equipment and special processing technology, OSB has more superior and powerful performance than ordinary particle board in strength, bearing capacity, stability, etc. It can not only replace ordinary particle board, but also be used in places with large load and high strength, and can also replace thick plywood and structural solid wood. 2.1 Construction field
Due to its lightweight, high strength, and low thermal conductivity, OSB can be used as a wall or partition board to reduce the load-bearing capacity of building foundations. Simplifying basic treatment can also enhance the insulation performance of houses, and due to its large size and fast installation and construction, it has a significant effect on shortening the construction cycle. The wooden structure houses made of it not only have flexible design and layout, short construction period, but also have excellent characteristics of non settlement, aging resistance and strong seismic resistance.
2.2 Packaging and transportation field
OSB is not only suitable for building structural materials, but also suitable for industries such as packaging and transportation. Especially for the export packaging industry, because the oriented particle board has been subjected to high temperature and high pressure treatment in the production process, which reduces the problem of pests and diseases, it has become a universal inspection free packaging material in the world.
