On December 11, an MDF enterprise received an email from a Mexican plywood importer, claiming that the collection account had been changed. The enterprise learned that the customer’s mailbox had been stolen and lost 1.2 million yuan. On December 15, an MDF enterprise received a payment reminder email from a South Asian customer. After the enterprise remitted US $600000, it found that the mailbox of the other party was counterfeit.
The police reminded that the criminals embezzled the mailbox of overseas customers, or exchanged some two English letters of the mailbox address to form a “fake” mailbox to commit fraud. All enterprises are required to strictly regulate the financial system, pay attention to identifying the contents of the e-mail address, and confirm the transfer and remittance through video or telephone.
