Bonding Class – BS EN 314-2

EN 314 -2 is specifically about the bond quality of Plywood.

The three classes represent differences, as opposed one class being better or worse than the other.
This standard specifies the requirements for bonding classes of plywood according to their end uses. It lists three classes of bond quality:

BS EN314-2 Class 1

Dry Conditions

Interior & dry uses

BS EN314-2 Class 2

Humid Conditions

Limited exposure during construction

Protected external use

“Damp” internal use

BS EN314-2 Class 3

Exterior Conditions

Exposure to weather over long periods

Continuous exposure to relatively high humidity

BS EN636-1

Dry conditions with no risk of getting wet

20c and 65% relative humidity

BS EN636-2

Humid Conditions

Protected external use

20c and 85% relative humidity

BS EN636-3

Unprotected exterior conditions
