(BS) EN 314-1: 2004 (confirmed 2014)
Plywood โ Bond quality โ Test methods
This standard specifies methods for determining the bonding quality of veneer plywood, by shear testing.
Before carrying out the shear tests the plywood samples are required to undergo a sequence of pre-treatments e.g. section 5.14 calls for immersion for 72 hours (ยฑ1) in boiling water followed by cooling in water at 20ยฐC (ยฑ3ยฐ) for at least 1.
Annex A in the standard covers the determination of the percentage of apparent cohesive wood failure by comparison to reference illustrations of the texture of failed surfaces.
Annex Bย provides guidelines for the evaluation of the glue bond of insulating core plywood.
