(BS) EN 314-1: 2004 (confirmed 2014)
Plywood – Bond quality – Test methods
This standard specifies methods for determining the bonding quality of veneer plywood, by shear testing.
Before carrying out the shear tests the plywood samples are required to undergo a sequence of pre-treatments e.g. section 5.14 calls for immersion for 72 hours (±1) in boiling water followed by cooling in water at 20°C (±3°) for at least 1.
Annex A in the standard covers the determination of the percentage of apparent cohesive wood failure by comparison to reference illustrations of the texture of failed surfaces.
Annex B provides guidelines for the evaluation of the glue bond of insulating core plywood.
