2023 Symposium on Policy Demands and Situation of International Trade in Wood and Wood-based Panels Held in Rizhao

On March 28th, the 2023 International Trade Policy Demand and Situation Analysis Symposium on Wood and Wood-based Panels, organized by the China Forestry Industry Association and organized by Shandong Port Rizhao Port and other units, was held at Rizhao Bibo Tea House. The symposium focused on industry wisdom, discussed the policy demand for wood and wood-based panel international trade, and built a sustainable supply chain.
Cheng Baodong, Deputy Director of the Foreign Economic Department of the Planning and Finance Department of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, attended and delivered a speech. Zhang Zhongtao, Deputy Secretary General of the China Forestry Industry Association, Party Committee Member of the Industrial Development Planning Institute of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and Director of the Ecological Industry Division 1, presided over the meeting. Zhang Zhongdong, a first-class researcher from the Department of Natural Resources of Shandong Province, Mou Wei, Deputy Secretary, Director, and General Manager of the Rizhao Port Party Committee of Shandong Port, and Zhou Xulong, Deputy District Mayor of Lanshan District of Rizhao City, delivered speeches respectively. Zhou Tao, a member of the Rizhao Port Party Committee of Shandong Port, attended the meeting.
The conference held online and on-site discussions and exchanges on topics such as the current situation and development trends of the artificial board and home furnishing industry, the current situation and prospects of international trade in forest products, changes in the timber trade market, and analysis of policies and future development.
As the national timber unloading port, Shandong Port Rizhao Port is equipped with a national scale and process imported timber fumigation warehouse, and a designated supervision site for Class A imported logs has been built with high standards. The log throughput has ranked first among coastal ports in China for ten consecutive years. Since the integrated reform and development of Shandong ports, Rizhao Port has been based on its location, resources, and advantages in the development of the timber industry in its hinterland. It has expanded its sea rail intermodal transportation and domestic trade to water services, accelerated its informationization and intelligence construction, promoted the optimization and upgrading of trade services, comprehensively promoted the professional operation of timber business, and focused on building a timber service brand. In the future, Shandong Port Rizhao Port will fully leverage its core node advantages in the supply chain and create a timber port linkage logistics system; Extend the service chain and accelerate the convergence of global high-quality wood resources; Deepen the linkage between ports and cities, and make greater contributions to promoting the continuous upgrading and vigorous development of the timber industry in the hinterland.
The meeting also invited units engaged in forest product trade management, research, and practice, as well as senior experts and representatives of relevant enterprises, such as the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the Ministry of Commerce, the Shandong Forestry Bureau, the China Textile Industry Federation, the InFIT Project China Office, the UK Wood Products Trade Federation, the European Forestry Research Institute, and the World Wildlife Fund (China Office).
