2023 Shandong Province Medium Density Fiberboard Product Quality Team Supervision and Random Inspection Results
In the third batch of supervision and random inspection in 2022, a total of 46 batches of medium density fiberboard products were randomly inspected.
In this supervision and spot check, according to GB/T 11718-2009 Medium Density Fiberboard, GB/T 11718-2021 Medium Density Fiberboard, GB 18580-2017 Indoor Decoration Materials Engineered wood and Formaldehyde Emission Limits in Their Products and other standards, the water absorption thickness expansion rate, static bending strength, surface bonding (bonding) strength, internal bonding (bonding) strength and formaldehyde emission of MDF products were inspected.
This random inspection found that 5 batches of products sold by 3 factories did not meet the requirements of relevant standards, and the unqualified items were formaldehyde release and static bending strength.
The Shandong Province Medium Density Fiberboard Product Quality Team has handled the non-conforming product producers, sellers, and nominal producers found in this random inspection.
- Check the certificate of conformity. Check if the markings on the certificate of conformity are complete and standardized. The standardized identification should include product information such as factory name, address, product name, trademark, specification model, executive standard, formaldehyde emission level (the national mandatory standard GB 18580-2017 requires a formaldehyde emission limit value of ≤ 0.124mg/m3, with a level of E1).
- Check the appearance quality. Check whether the thickness and density of the medium density fiberboard are uniform, whether there are any damages to the edges and corners, whether there are deformation, layering, bulging, carbonization, and other phenomena, and whether there are loose parts.
- Measure the size. Measure the length, width, and thickness dimensions of medium density fiberboard, especially whether the thickness is consistent with the nominal thickness.
- Smell the odor. Medium density fiberboard with a strong pungent odor may contain toxic and harmful substances that exceed the standard. It is recommended not to purchase it.
- Choose a brand. Try to choose medium density fiberboard produced by well-known or reputable enterprises.
